This is a stainless steel front rack that is perfect for a handlebar bag. The decaleur (bag mount receiver) is integrated into the rack platform. The advantage to this system is: your bag-decaleur-rack combination is more solid, lighter, and less likely to rattle. Integration is the Holy Grail of Constucteur-style bikes, and we feel that these racks are a big step in that direction.

All VO racks are made from polished tubular stainless steel, so they will never rust, flake, and can be re-polished to a mirror shine even after years of use. As with our other racks, there are light mounts on the side of the platform. The platform is 20.5 cm long and 10.2 cm wide. The rack weighs 592 gr with all the hardware.

Most traditional style handlebar bags work perfectly with this rack (any bag around 20cm tall), but very tall bags may need a longer bag mount. If you plan on getting into offroad exploration, we suggest using a toe strap on the bottom of the bag to ensure it says put over the rough stuff.

If you are getting a custom frame made, we suggest sending the rack to the builder beforehand.

This rack requires the use of cantilever brake bosses. Works best with canti posts that are between 75 and 80 mm wide. Use our Randonneur Front Rack with Integrated Decaleur if you don't have cantilever brakes.

12lbs (5.4kg) max weight capacity.

All mounting hardware is included. Installation instructions found here.

Please note: mounting our rack to Paul Component cantilever brakes requires the use of Paul's special rack bolts and spacers.

Good build quality and fit for purpose

I have this installed on my Mk III polyvalent and use it to support my rando bag. Mounts well and the included mounting hardware is nice and generous.

The only improvement I'd like to see is an option sold by VO to mount this with Paul Canti brakes without having to make a separate order with Paul Components as I live overseas and multiple international shipments can introduce complications...

Anyway, 5/5 and I am stoked with the rack.

Great rack!

I just rode 420 miles of rough gravel roads and trails. This rack worked perfectly for me. I am very happy with it!

As presented

As usual a good value comparable to premium brands. It is of high quality, good finish, and has a wide range installment options.

Absolutely brilliant, sturdy piece of hardware

This gorgeously made rack fits securely on the front of my 80s Maruishi TA-18 alongside a Swift Peregrine Rando Bag. Together they can carry more wine and jambon beurre than you can shake a frame pump at! The cantilever brake mounts and rear tab keep everything nice and secure while not obstructing the front wheel with stays or what have you. I'll admit I've been skeptical of the handlebar bag life for some time but I have seen the light and am never going back. Having a small box and pan brake on hand definitely improved the process of bending the stabilizer tab to fit under the canti straddle cable. One should have a small square and a vise at minimum.

I now own 3 of these

I have too many bikes. One of the problems with owning too many bikes is moving your accessories from one bike to another. I bought my first rando rack to use with the VO Rando bag. I loved it, but I also wanted to be able to use the same bag on different bikes and make the switch quickly, so I bought another rack. That left me with an extra mounting bracket, which I attached to a Wald basket (also bought from VO) using some various hardware I had laying around and a voile strap. Then I could easily switch between rando bag and basket between my 2 main bikes at a moment's notice. Then I built a new bike last weekend, and of course I want to be able to use my basket and bag on the new bike, so that makes 3. If you can think of anything else I can do with the spare mounting bracket, let me know. Also, feel free to steal my idea for a basket that quickly mounts to the decaleur. That secure connection plus a single 12" voile strap along the bottom makes it pretty solid while still easy to remove and install without using zipties.
