The Sensah Empire 2x11 Integrated Shifter & Brake Lever Set wraps excellent performance and ergonomics in with a fantastic value.

The right shifter actuates the rear derailleur and offers up to 3 gear shifts with a single sweep. A single push of the lever drops one gear at a time.

The left shifter is a sort of "semi-indexed" design to accommodate for trim when the chain is cross-chained.

These integrated shifters are compatible with Empire 11spd derailleurs as well as  SRAM's offerings that use "Exact Actuation".

Routing for both the derailleur and brake is aero (under the tape). And each lever's reach is adjustable with a 2.5mm screw.

  • In the box: Left shift/brake lever, right shift/brake lever, 2 road brake cables
  • Drivetrain speeds: 2x11 speed
  • Right Up/down shift: 3 with full sweep, 1 down
  • Left Up/down shift: 4 semi-indexed positions for trim
  • Reach adjustable: Yes
  • Pull Compatibility: Sensah Empire 2x11, SRAM DoubleTap 2x11
  • Weight: 479g for the pair, includes shift cables

A New Era?

Shimano's ergonomics, Srams functionality, for less money than a set of barcons? The craziest part is they actually WORK, quite well and feel quite solid/positive function wise. I'm running these on a drop bar Piolet so time will tell how they handle vibration/dust/impacts/etc. but after the first few rides I'm thoroughly impressed.

Best Group for the Money

The shifters and derailleurs have performed well above my expectations. Quick, crisp shifts and the hoods are comfortable. They are a great alternative to SRAM and Shimano,

Thousand mile review

I've ridden over 1000 miles using Sensah Empire 2x11 on a road bike. I don't love it, but it has always worked reliably and I will say it's a great value. My only complaint is that the lever travel is a bit of a reach. Upshifting the rear derailleur is quick and can easily be done with one finger from any position, but I'm only able to downshift one gear at a time in the drops despite having the capability to shift two. Shifting to the big chainring requires pushing the lever all the way across its range due to having multiple trim positions, and the extreme wrist motion necessary to do so can disrupt handling especially at low speed. I'll often delay shifting at the top of a climb so I can hold my line, which isn't ideal if I'm trying to keep my power up.

Excellent So Far

I bought these to test out. With the pice of groupsets from the big three becoming more ridiculous, I wanted to see if there was an option for lower priced, entry level builds.

Very easy to set up, indexing with a SRAM 11 speed cassette was spot on OOTB. I’ve got about 300 miles on the shifters and rear derailleur so far in a 1x setup. No problems, great shifting. Seems like a more than viable option.

Hood material is a little suspect, and it’s not light, but those are the only little complaints. Overall, I’m very impressed.
