The VO Porteur Rack is a traditional-style rack as used on the famed Parisian newspaper delivery bikes. Those Parisian delivery bikes were reputed to carry as much as 110lbs. of newspapers on similar racks (of course, the bikes had strengthened frames and forks, not just racks).

Our Porteur Rack is made from strong stainless steel tubing and polished to a lovely shine. It won't rust like painted steel racks or fatigue and crack like aluminum racks. The quality is actually superior to that of many custom racks. In short, this is a real load-carrying rack, not an aluminum "style-rack". Yet total weight with rail, nuts, bolts, etc. is only 1.079kg.

The platform is about 36cm x 29cm. A removable rail attachment is included and very handy for smaller packages.

The tangs are pre-drilled to fit 700c, 27", 26", and 650b bikes. There are four bosses for a light attachment. There is a boss for securing your fender to the rack -- no rattling! Please also note the elegant pannier/tie-down loops above the mounting tangs.

Mounting hardware is included. The Porteur Rack mounts to the dropout eyelet and the brake bolt (or fork crown hole). Max weight with this configuration is 25 lbs.

Excellent rack but needed to buy an adapter

This rack looks amazing and works perfectly. I couldn’t put it on immediately though because I needed to buy a mounting adapter to install it on my axle (my bike is a steamroller and doesn’t have front fork eyelets or mounting bosses). I would have loved if this part were included or at least sold separately through Velo Orange, but I had to have one made at a shop. Regardless, I would purchase again as it looks sharp and has saved me many a sweaty back!

Nice rack

I recently purchased the Porteur Rack for a 650b bike that I am refurbishing.
It’s a very high quality rack and comes with all the hardware that you need.
Very pleased with the quality of the rack .

I love this thing

I had my eye on this for several years - mostly deterred by the price - but finally went for it. It's very chic, holds plenty, and as someone new to front racks, I really love being able to keep an eye on certain cargo items while I ride. I keep a few bungees attached in case I need to strap anything down. I really just don't like the look of a wire basket and this is a very beautiful and functional alternative (especially considering I usually have a bag to hold smaller items on me anyways). Also VO customer service has been top notch.

It’s completely fine!

I bought this for a Surly Disc Trucker, a not-uncommon or particularly proprietary bike. The center mounting tab, when installed, either completely immobilizes the wheel, or needs to be flexed upwards pretty aggressively and pinched with a bolt head, as there aren’t enough braze ons in the racks underside. I talked with a friend who’d run one before and they had a similar issue. Once installed, it works! It doesn’t sit properly flat, so it’s raked back a little bit, which is just a visual bother, but it holds things well and doesn’t rattle when empty. For the price, it’s fine if frustratingly underwhelming, but I haven’t pulled it off. Seems like a little more r&d coulda gone into it.

So beautiful

This is a major rack upgrade for my commuting experience. I just built up a New Albion privateer in gloss black with silver parts and this rack was the perfect finisher. It came with tons of hardware to get the mounting dialed in perfectly, and it looks so damn good! It’s pricey, but I feel it will last years and years being made out of stainless steel.
